It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of Nine Inch Nails here at D|M. In fact, if you search the site there are at least nine posts (how fitting) that reference Nine Inch Nails. Our fascination with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails occurs on many levels and goes far beyond the great music. For one we are amazed at his technological presence; we could go on for hours about how Trent and company helped revolutionized the music industry but we won’t waste your time with all those details as they are well documented elsewhere.

Our biggest fascination with Nine Inch Nails just may be his amazingly generous dedication to his fans. In early January we wrote about Reznor and company killing the Internet by offering over 400GB of raw HD footage from three concert dates during the Lights In the Sky tour. Well, after that generous gift a community effort spawned at This One Is On Us (TOIOU), which is a fan-site created in response to Trent Reznor allowing the filming of several shows on the tour and then the subsequent release of the "leaked" HD footage.

The dedicated fans at TOIOU have been hard at work with a collection of the community trying to build an amazing live DVD, Blu-ray and torrent download of the footage; a fan-made live release if you will. Well, the first official release from the site has come to fruition in a high-quality double live album download.

After two rounds of intense torrent testing, art work updating, a skipped dinner replaced by ice water, and a trip in to work at 3am to take advantage of the fast internet, it comes with great excitement (and even more relief) to present to you the audio release of Another Version of the Truth.

This double-feature audio torrent captures the final stages of the Nine Inch Nails: Lights In The Sky 2008 tour.

‘Las Vegas’ – consists of a fully fan coordinated, recorded, and produced version of the final show in Las Vegas, mixed and mastered from a variety of hi-quality fan audio sources.

‘The Gift’ – takes footage supplied by Nine Inch Nails from 3 different shows in the final part of the tour, edited and mixed together by us to get the best of each show.

The torrent is available in either 320kb MP3 or FLAC.

As the announcement points out the albums can be downloaded in either 320kb MP3 or FLAC loss less audio formats. I can tell you that I have downloaded the MP3 version of this release and it is of amazing quality for a fan recorded and mastered creation. Three of us here at D|M were at the Las Vegas show on 12/13/2008 and I can honestly say that this recording is fantastic. I was just feet away from the stage in the tiny pit at the show and listening to these tracks makes me feel like I’m right back there. The tracks are also each embedded with individual album art which are snapshots taken during the show and during that track. Take a look at the snapshot below of The Great Destroyer.
