A couple days ago we wrote about Facebook’s new Terms of Service where they took it upon themselves to own all of the content you upload, even if you chose to delete the content or your account. Well, today after tens of thousands of protests from Facebook users and privacy advocates around the world Facebook has rescinded their changes in the ToS.
The old Terms of Service still claim that they own everything that you upload and have the right to reuse your content however they see fit, although now when you cancel your account or delete your content that right expires. While I applaud the about-face from Facebook I have a feeling that it is only temporary seeing as on Monday Zuckerberg tried to quiet the naysayers down.
Facebook users have won their rights back… but for how long?
