The Associated Press published a story today from the Las Vegas Review Journal regarding casinos being alerted to the use of an iPhone application that can help blackjack players count cards. Neither article mentions which card counting application was being used but CrunchGear has a great write up on the PRO Series of iPhone card games from Avalinx… including the card counting 21 Pro: Blackjack; although there are multiple card counting applications on iTunes.

Gaming officials don’t have any reports of the application being used in Nevada but they were tipped off by that pesky Indian casino owners. Card counting (in your head) is not illegal in Nevada but using any devices to count cards is against the law and will either get you thrown in jail, pistol whipped or maybe even stabbed in the neck with a pen depending on where you get caught. You’ve been warned. That shouldn’t stop you from using these apps to brush up on your card counting skills before you hit the casino floor, if you have the strength to say no the hookers.
