HD TV, Hardware

After 19 and half seasons of low def goodness the Simpson’s will premiere it’s first High Definition episode on February 15th, with an episode titled ‘Take My Life, Please’. Episode description, courtesy of The Futon Critic:

When Mayor Quimby inducts Vance Connor into the Springfield Walk of Fame, Homer recounts how he ran against Vance for class president in high school and lost. After a little digging, Homer learns that the election had been rigged, and he wonders what course his life would have taken if only fate had smiled on him. Homer soon meets an old Italian cook at Luigi’s Italian Restaurant whose magical tomato sauce, when stirred in just the right way, reveals what Homer’s life would have been like had he won the election. However, when Homer gets a chance to see what his life could have been, he wonders if fate was actually been on his side all along in the all-new "Take My Life, Please" episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Feb. 15 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SI-2001) (TV-PG D)

Not sure if it will make a great difference in the show, which is already TV greatness, but it will be nice for my TV to fully display the power of the Simpsons without the little extra black lines on the side.

Feel free to discuss your favorite episodes in the comments area, for me, its tough, ‘The Lemon of Troy episode’, or maybe ‘The Cartridge Family’, but I like to it ‘Homer Gets a Gun’.

The Lemon of Troy Recap:

Shelbyville steals Springfield’s Lemon Tree and its up to Homer and the gang to got a get it back.  Highlights form the episode

  • Shelbyville is just like Springfield, just a little less lucky, in fact they also have a Millhouse, and the 2 Millhouses meet for the first time, here is the exchange… ‘I thought I was the only Millhouse, So this is how it feels when doves cry.’
  • In this episode we discover that Shelbyville has its own Homer, voiced by Hank Azaria and he and his son are just like Bart and Homer, good stuff.
  • The Cops of Shelbyville discover all the Springfield kids which leads to his quote… ‘Looks like Springfield has a discipline problem,’ other cop ‘Yeah maybe that’s why we beat them nearly half the time in football.’
  • I was once intoxicated in a dorm room in Dallas when some kind of food fight began, not a complete food fight mind you, just a few thrown items in a drunken haze. Well one strange item was a lemon which prompted me to quote the show during the fight ‘You got citric acid in my eye.’

Homer Gets a Gun Recap:

After attending a Soccer match between Mexico and Portugal a riot breaks out because of a lack of interest. Marge fears for her family and wants a Security System installed but instead Homer buys a gun.  When it is revealed he has to wait 5 days for the gun, Homer drops the funniest line of the show, ‘If I had my gun right now, I’d shoot you.’ While waiting the five days, Homer sits in his front yard as things fly by like a carnival shooting gallery, including Ned, epic.
