Have you ever been sitting at work and wanted to hear a song that you didn’t have at the office? Well SadSteve.com is for you. Basically, Sad Steve has created a simple and easy to use form for browsing the Google music indexes.
To search MP3’s on Google the cumbersome way you can enter the following in the Google search bar.
-inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:”index of” mp3 “artist/song name“
The problem with this method is many of the search results are sites that are meant to fool the Google index and you get a lot of shady sites with false returns. So, I depend on Sad Steve because I can search and then preview the track to ensure that the file is of good quality, and then I can download it as needed.
Just point your browser to SadSteve.com and type the name of an artist or a song title in the search box a the top of the page. I am searching for “Nine Inch Nails Ghosts” because those are released under the Creative Commons License. Please remember that downloading music you don’t own is wrong and we certainly don’t condone it!

Once you have your search results just click on the “Play Song” link of the title you are interested in. I chose 12 Ghosts II as it is one of my favorite from Ghosts, and I also used it in the Gears of War 2 Achievement video. If there are various versions of the same song you may want to try multiple ones to ensure you get the highest quality track.

Downloading is just as simple as well… once you’ve heard the track and it is one you’d like to download simply hit the download link on the pop-up player. Happy listening!
